The Important First Step in Creating Healthy Habits That’s Often Overlooked

Have you ever felt like you
know what you should be doing when it comes to living
a healthy lifestyle, but you just can’t seem
quite to get yourself to follow through on it consistently, or make it easy? Whenever you’re feeling
that way, first of all, you are not alone, but it might be likely that whatever you’re trying to do isn’t fully aligned
with what you truly want and need on a core, honest level. That’s the real truth, and that’s why the most effective way to create healthy habits
that last for your life is really to make sure
that you’re creating a wellness vision that
uncovers your unique wants, your needs, your likes, dislikes,
your life, your schedule, rather that trying to force
something into your life that might be healthy, but
may not be what healthy looks like for you. (upbeat music) Research shows that setting goals is not only linked to
having higher motivation, it also is a strong connection
between setting goals and having success with those goals. So your wellness vision is just that. It is what you want, it’s
what you desire in your life, what you wanna feel like, what you want it to look like, and it’s a dedicated vision
to your overarching goals of how you would ideally design the way that you wanna,
again, feel, think, act, show up daily. It outlines what you might
do throughout the day from the moment that you wake up, from the moment that
you might fall asleep. But on a deeper level,
it allows you to explore your true wants and your
desires and your core needs without any judgment, without any ego, like the shoulds, like I should
fit in or I should belong, and it allows you to do this with ease and without any pressure. But more importantly,
it includes why you want to do those things or why
you wanna feel that way, and while it’s great to have
some current healthy habits that really support your wellbeing and make you feel your best, your wellness vision
really is the first layer in that foundation to build upon later, and the true purpose
of a healthy lifestyle is to give you the support
physically and mentally, emotionally, that you need
to create major shifts and milestones in your life, and just I want you to
imaging how much your life can evolve when you’ve
constantly felt present, grounded, energized for all
the day has to bring to you and all that your life brings you. What might you feel or
do when you’re acting from a place where you’ve
been deeply cared for, whether it’s by yourself
or your support systems. What impact might you have
on your family, your work, and on the world for the greater good? How much easier may
certain habits be for you if you knew that you were
supporting a larger version and vision for yourself? Having clarity on those two things about what you want an exactly
why you want those things allows you to design a healthy lifestyle that truly works for you and it allows you to follow through on those actions that are needed every day. So rather than simply
checking off healthy habits from a to do list, you’re
really making these intentional, purposeful choices that
align you with the person you need to be in order to bring that wellness vision to life. So as always, I want
you to grab your journal and give yourself at least 10 minutes to explore exactly what you
