STEM for Britain Winner 2020 – George Firth, Kings College London

Really happy to be awarded this award. My
work is on PET imaging and we are tracking metals like copper, zinc and magnesium in
the body and it is really important for not only nutrition by also for the diagnoses for
disease and moving towards giving a better therapy for patients who are in treatment
and its not the cancer the is important, but it is also other diseases such as Alzheimer’s
and Diabetes and the impact that PET imaging can have in those diseases and I think that
is really massive. I really really love what I do and Ijust work across the road at St
Thomas Hospital and if I could do that for the rest of my career I’d be very very happy.
