PROJECT 13 & GOGAChiro for Movember

Hey guys, this is Dr. Broc here at
Golden Gate Chiropractic Center. I’m here with Thomas from Project 13. He’s
a co-founder. We wanted to talk a little bit about Movember. We’ve shot a
couple videos talking about men’s mental health and they’re doing some great
things about Project 13. So, I’m going to let Thomas talk a little bit
about that, how you guys got into it and what you guys are doing. Absolutely.
our gym, Project 13’s mission is “Building better humans” and we believe
that that ripples outside of the gym and into other aspects of your life. So one
way that we like to show how we build better humans is by supporting causes
like Movember and showing people that really health, holistic health, is
about more than just training. So, mindset, your social interactions, as well as
fitness and nutrition. With Movember, we believe that the power of the collective
can make big change as opposed to just one individual trying to make an effort.
We believe that bringing people together with a common goal has the power to make
big change so that’s what we’re helping with Movember, that we can
band together and work to change the face of men’s health. Yeah, it’s definitely a
great community setting and you really get that sense of everyone working
together to achieve that a common goal. You mentioned something we were just
talking about, how raising awareness to mental health and health being able to
be vulnerable. and talking about your emotions
instead of just suppressing it, not only is helping your body, helping
your mind, but I think that it does really show how big of a man you
actually are. I, myself, and my business partner Nate, have both had our
experiences with going through tough mental challenges that are not
easy to go through and we’ve both come to learn and understand that it is
important to talk about those things. And like you said, make yourself
vulnerable and be open because the more you suppress things the worse those
things will get. So, we’re really trying to make an effort to create an
environment as well in our gym that allows people to be vulnerable and we
feel that that’s what has really led to building such a strong tight-knit
community, not just with men but with females as well. We’re just
continuing to try to show people their full potential and show them as well
that that it’s not just fitness that’s going to make a big change in your life
Yeah. So, tell the people how they can support what you guys are doing and also
if they want to come in and check out a class. Absolutely. So, we’ll be
sharing a link with this video for you to join the Project 13 Movember
team. There’s plenty of ways for everybody to get involved man or woman
So, fellas, you can work on growing a nice stache like Broc’s got going here.
Mine’s taken a bit of time, but it’ll get there. He did the rules actually
how their supposed to and started from scratch so… Yeah, it could have been a mistake, but
we’ll see how it pans out. fellas you can grow that mustache and
the important thing with the mustache why why you’re growing it is to start a
conversation. Especially if you’re someone that normally doesn’t
have a mustache, someone might be like “You have a mustache. That’s different.
Why are you doing that?” And that is an opener for you to start talking about
men’s health and, especially if it’s another man, encourage them to get
checked out and take care of themselves. And then ladies and guys you can, along
with joining our team, you can Move For Movember, so running or walking 60 miles
throughout the month of November, which represents the number of suicides for
men worldwide each hour, which is a sad statistic, but doing that. And then
along with those two things, if you join our team share it out on your social
media. You really don’t have to donate a dollar of your own money. Ask
for people to sponsor you. And then, the last thing we’re doing a special
Movember-themed workout called a Mo-ment. on December 7th and we’ll be partnering
with a few vendors for that. So, that will be really exciting. We’ll be sending
out Eventbrite links for that that you can find on our social media, so
keep an eye out for that. It’ll be a fun workout, lots of stuff happening. Yeah, cool. Alright you guys heard it. Help support a
great cause and check out Project 13 and reach out for any support that you
guys may need. We love and appreciate you and we will see you next time.
